Can't focus? Too much to think about? Mind racing? Don't feel anything? Don't want to go anywhere or do anything? Haven't genuinely laughed in longer than you can remember?
Our mental health is more important than our physical health. Lindsey would say it is our number one priority. Once we are mentally well, then we are able to focus on our physical health. Including reducing our systemic inflammation and stress and nourishing our bodies through diet and exercise. Then we are able to be the best version of ourselves and our loved ones.
More and more research and evidence is explaining how our gut health is key to our mental health. This is because of the gut-brain axis. The connection from our gut to our brain is the vagus nerve. It is the longest and most complex nerve of the 12 pairs of cranial nerves coming from our brain to our body. In fact, some counselors are now recommending probiotics. The microbiome is the genetic material of all the bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses that live on our body. The gut microbiome is what talks to the brain through the vagus nerve. If we change the microbiome of a mouse or a human, we can change their mood from calm, to anxious, to depressed. Constant study is occurring on which strains of prebiotics, probiotics, and dietary changes are being done to determine what will improve the microbiome of the gut, and in turn, improve a patients mental health. When we improve mental health, we have the opportunity to improve EVERYTHING else in our lives. From relationships, to work, to physical health. Here at WPC, we tailor our plan to you. Based on your answers, our assessments and discussions we will recommend detoxing our liver, healing our gut, reseting our microbiome and improving our mood.
Medications are important for mental health. There is nothing wrong with needing a pharmaceutical product to improve your mental health. Some patients need them forever, others are on an anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medication and don't want to be. We will help you get there. Lindsey has tapered 100s of patients off of medications in her career, but only with proper guidance, care and wellness plans. Don't want to start on a medication? There are many options for you, after a proper analysis we are able to recommend programs and/or supplements to enhance your mood. Counseling is also part of our mental health. It does wonders for individuals and relationships. We all have trauma. We all have things to work through.
