Acute injuries are sudden and severe, like broken bone or a sprain that happened recently. Chronic injuries, like shin splints for example, happen over time. Acute injuries can lead to chronic injuries over time. A perfect example are low back injuries. They start as acute and if not healed properly can persist or re-flare and become a chronic injury. Having proper treatment for an acute injury varies greatly. Did you know you SHOULD NOT TAKE NSAIDS if you break a bone? They block prostaglandins which are crucial to healing. And you need to increase blood flow to the bones, if broken, in the hands and feet to promote healing. However if you pull a muscle or dislocate a disc you definitely should start NSAIDS to reduce the inflammation. Here at WPC we offer free regimens and access to supplements that will help reduce inflammation, from the broken bone to the soft tissue injury, we are here to help.
We also have a list of recommendations for services for your physical therapists, chiropractors and practitioners that will help you along this journey. If you have to have surgery, we would be happy to recommend topical medications to reduce the amount of pain medications necessary for post op. We want to help you get back to your normal as quickly and safely as possible. Please reach out today!
